Lane Economic Committee (LEC) New Member Solicitation
Applications to serve on the Lane Economic Committee (LEC), the economic advisory committee for the Lane Council of Governments (LCOG), are being accepted until December 16, 2016, 4:00 p.m. at the LCOG office. Applicants are sought for three positions on the 15- member LEC to serve for a three-year term. Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at 11:30 in Eugene. The LEC represents the principal economic interests of Lane County, including business, labor, education and government. In addition, the LEC is intended to broadly represent the geographic and cultural diversity of the County.
LEC members are appointed by the LCOG Board of Directors to serve in an advisory capacity to the Board to develop and implement an overall economic development program in Lane County, including the recommendations for project implementation priorities. The LEC also carries out economic development-related research, planning, implementation, and advisory functions as are helpful and necessary to the coordination of other local, state, federal, and private organizations. In this capacity, the LEC has previously (a) served as the Regional Strategies Committee for Lane County, (b) has developed the Lane County project priorities under the Northwest Economic Adjustment Initiative, and (c) provided comment to the State of Oregon and the federal government on community and economic development issues. The LEC provides the Lane County portion of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for the four-county Cascades West Economic Development District covering Lane, Benton, Lincoln, and Linn Counties.
