(EUGENE, Oregon) – Lane Council of Governments (LCOG) was a winner in the 33rd annual National Mature Media Awards Program. The program, presented by the Mature Market Resource Center, a national clearinghouse for the senior market, recognizes the nation’s finest marketing, communications, educational materials, and programs designed and produced for older adults.

The Senior Meals Program received a Gold Award for Miscellaneous Marketing & Communications: Government. Those involved with the design and production of The Senior Meals Program are Neil Moyer and Tim Garner.

“We really enjoyed this project, and we’re honored to be selected as a winner,” says Neil Moyer, Program Manager of Metro Television.

The video highlights the LCOG Senior & Disability Services' nutrition wellness program, which operates nine Café 60 dining rooms and delivers Meals on Wheels throughout Lane County, Oregon. It contracts with Food for Lane County to deliver Meals on Wheels in Eugene. Café 60 dining rooms and Meals on Wheels serve adults age 60 and older and their spouses, regardless of their income. The balanced meals and the social contact provide a positive motivation for self-care for seniors who often eat poorly on their own and can become lonely and depressed in isolation. In Fiscal Year 2023, its Senior Meals Program served 176,006 meals to 1,759 participants.

“This video truly is beautiful and speaks straight to people’s heartstrings. The Senior Meals Program crew and volunteers loved working with the Metro TV team,” said Leah Chisholm, Older Americans Act Program Manager at Senior and Disability Services.

The entries were judged by a distinguished panel of mature market experts from across the United States for overall excellence of design, content, creativity, and relevance to the senior market.
